Impressive People

Columbia Business School certainly has impressive visitors.  Last week I attended a panel discussion on financial innovation.

Panelists:

  1. David Abrams - Founder of Abrams Capital
  2. Caroline Baum - Bloomberg News columnist (often on TV)
  3. Ed Conard - Partner at Bain Capital
  4. Wilson Ervin - Senior Advisor to the CEO of Credit Suisse
  5. Barney Frank - US Congressman
  6. Gary Gensler - Chairman of Commodity Futures Trading Commission
  7. Linda Gibbs - Deputy Mayor for Healh and Human Services, NYC
  8. Alicia Glen - Managing Director of Urban Investment Group at Goldman Sachs
  9. Bruce Greenwald - Columbia Professor and "guru to Wall Street's gurus"
  10. Blythe Masters - Head of Global Commodities at JPMorgan Chase
  11. Robert Solow - Nobel Prize Winner in Economics
  12. Andrew Sorkin - Co-anchor of CNBC's Squawk Bow
  13. Peter Stringham - Chairman and CEO of Young and Rubicam Group
Not the greatest picture.
I enjoyed the debate but quite a few of my classmates looked pretty confused.  Doesn't everyone know the risks of underwriting sub-prime CMBS debt obligations?
