Harlem Photo Walk

I had to go pickup a cake this morning in Harlem, so I took a few pictures on my way there.

My street.

The park next to my building.  (NYC does have trees actually.)

They were so easy going down...
My building is next to Morningside Park which separates Morningside Heights (my neighborhood) from Harlem.  It's a world of difference once you cross the park, but it's not what you think.  People tend to think of 1970's Harlem rather than what it has become.

Nice brownstones.
Public school.  (Through the fence.)

New apartments.
All of these pictures were taken less than five minutes from my building in Harlem.  Interestingly, we have spent more time in Harlem than in our own neighborhood.  Erin still isn't convinced though, so we may be spending more time on the Upper West Side from now on.

The cake!
The cake was the whole reason I walked this tour, but I actually met up with a few classmates and had brunch while listening to live jazz at Harlem Tavern.

Erin is very pleased with our anniversary cake.
