Playing with animals

Everyone has a dog, cat, or fish.  Why not get something more exciting?

Traveling in style
How about an elephant?  My biggest complaint was the suspension.  It would be really hard to read a newspaper while riding an elephant to work.  At least it beats walking.

Should I be worried about my neck or my leg?
Perhaps a more fierce pet would be better?  This one could deter thieves, assuming it doesn't kill me in my sleep.

More snow?

OK, all this snow is getting silly.  But at least everything looks pretty!

Roads are clear, but good luck getting out of the parking spot.

ShopHouse

For anyone who loves Chipotle's burritos (or owns its stock like me), you might be aware of ShopHouse.  It's a Chipotle subsidiary that serves Asian food Chipotle-style.  You make a bowl filled with Asian ingredients.  I have been wanting to go for a very long time, but it's only in DC and LA.  I finally had the chance to try it out.

Menu

My steak bowl.
I liked it, but I have to say I'm not sure it will be successful.  It's actually southeast Asian, not Chinese or Japanese.  That means it's spicy and somewhat sour.  It's a big shift for American taste buds.  They might have had better luck creating teriyaki chicken or other Chinese-American favorites.  I guess we'll see if it rolls out nationwide.

I hope it works out for my sake!  (my mouth and my investment accounts)

Washington DC

Had to work for a weekend in DC, but I was able to explore a little before and after sessions.

Thankfully DC has falafel too.  I was worried.

Colorful housing is fun.

Lobster waffles?!  What a great idea!

Georgetown, my working location for the weekend.

Anyone know if I can rent a room here?

Maybe I can rent a room in the protest tent?

Or the treasury?  Might find some extra money laying around.

Getting fixed up from the earthquake.

Executive office building looks impressive.

The CFPB shares office space with what looks like condos?

Misfits Photos

I gradually accumulate photos that might be of note to me but don't really warrant a post.

Impressive, but closed and decaying.

Ugliest housing ever.

Ugliest housing seen from the north.
I hope this means it's being renovated into something nice.

Japanese curry is becoming more popular in these parts.  Yay!

I am thoroughly surprised this exists.  I have never met a Columbia Republican before.

Amazon sent me some treats.  Time for a massive taste test!

Wow!  220?  That's impressive considering there are only 196 in the world.

New Desserts

Dessert sushi?  Brilliant!

Bananas inside with nutella topped with strawberries!

World's largest banana split.

Dessert for a family of four?

9/11 Memorial

The new WTC.

The footprint of the old south tower.

The memorial from the W hotel.
I picked a terrible day to go because it was pouring freezing rain, but that meant that I was almost the only person there.  I guess that made it more personal.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It begins.

It ends.

It melts.
A foot of snow!

Something's Wrong

I was coming home from Thailand and realized something was very wrong in the subway.

All of the stations were exactly like this one.

Notice anything wrong here?  (Hint: find four people)
