Alternative Political Viewpoints

Right, because other systems have worked so well.

I am continually amazed at where the level of discourse in New York exists on a variety of topics relative to other geopolitical regions.  The reason why Texans discuss secession is because New Yorkers discuss ideas like Communism.  The scariest part is that this is not being advertised on the street.  It's being organized by Columbia undergraduates.  While I understand the value of having a vibrant discussion on important topics, sometimes the very discussion gives credence to ridiculous ideas.  For example, would we allow for a debate on whether the Sun revolves around the Earth?  Simply holding the discussion gives both sides legitimacy.  Unfathomable.
