New Foods

It's not often that I get to eat new things anymore.  It's not that I don't try, but there are only a finite number of edible substances on Earth and I have gone through most of them.  Still, I found a few new meals.  None are entirely new, but new enough to count.

Mussels (or Moules if you are French)
I have eaten plenty of mussels before, but usually as part of a seafood stew or another type of dish.  This time, I was given 52 mussels in a giant pot and a cone of fries.  Considered it was only $12 for 52 mussels, I think it was a good deal.

Bulgur (ignore the lamb on top)
I have had plenty of lamb gyro in my life, but somehow missed out on bulgur.  I normally eat Greek or Israeli, so that explains why.  Bulgur is a wheat-based cereal used in Turkish food.  I don't run across too many Turkish restaurants, but I'm glad I did this time.  Interesting alternative to rice.

14 "mezes" or appetizer spreads
They claimed to serve me 15, but I only count 14 in the picture.  I was ripped off!  If you're curious to see what some of them were, you can see the full list here.  http://www.balkanikany.com/offer.html

I tried all of them, but only ended up eating four before I was full.  This stuff was very dense and pita bread is more filling than you think.  I needed a partner.  Still, quite a fun-looking plate.
